Main duties of the job

As a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse in Neonatal Services, you'll provide expert clinical leadership and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to premature and critically ill newborns. You'll act as a role model, advocate for families, and ensure safe, effective treatment in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising junior staff and student nurses.
  • Providing advanced neonatal care, including monitoring, resuscitation, and specialised procedures.
  • Managing complex clinical situations and supporting families through sensitive conversations.
  • Promoting family-integrated care and planning safe discharges.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, governance, and quality standards.
  • Supporting service improvement through audits, research, and policy development.
  • Deputising for the Unit Manager when required.

This role demands strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm and compassionate approach.
