Senior Occupational Therapy Support Worker

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit someone with knowledge in occupational therapy to join our Occupational Therapy Service in Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.

You will work as part of a designated team to deliver an occupational therapy service, as delegated by occupational therapists, to people on the medical wards with conditions such as respiratory, frailty and cardiac conditions. Your role will be to support the occupational therapist to deliver what matters to the patient, to enable them to be rehabilitated and discharged home from hospital. You may also at times be required to outreach post discharge, when appropriate to support discharge.

You will be part of a supportive team who will provide learning opportunities, formal and informal supervision.

The occupational therapy team also works closely with colleagues from Health, Local Authorities and Third Sector Organisations to achieve best outcomes for the client group.

Part of the role will also be to support team operations, dealing appropriately with enquiries and undertake administrative tasks relevant to the role, such as data entry and audits.

Main duties of the job

Work as part of a designated team to deliver an occupational therapy service, as delegated by occupational therapists, to improve the health & wellbeing of people.

Deliver the service in a manner and setting appropriate to the needs of client group, following agreed guidelines, protocols, policies and care pathways. This may include working with colleagues or alone; with individuals and groups; in people's homes, community settings and hospitals.

Provide a service to a designated client group, based on instruction & guidance given by the occupational therapist. This will include undertaking specific assessments and interventions independently as part an overall plan of care delegated by the occupational therapist.

Work collaboratively with colleagues from Health, Local Authorities and Third Sector Organisations to achieve best outcomes.

Support team operations, dealing appropriately with enquiries and undertake administrative tasks relevant to the role.

The post holder will be expected to travel within Carmarthenshire.

The provision of a flexible 7-day service may be expected of this role, based on service need.
