Advanced Practitioner - Sonographer (Head and Neck)

Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an advanced practitioner within the head and neck specialism in Hywel Dda University Health board. The successful candidate will word closely with the ENT multi disciplinary team to provide timely diagnosis for neck cancers. The candidate will be expected to perform diagnostic scans and biopsies/fine needle aspiration's.

The post will be based at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen but the post holder will be be expected to work across the health board as needed.

Main duties of the job

  • To be an expert practitioner in head and neck ultrasound and to perform biopsies as required.
  • To assess complex clinical information to ensure that the imaging that is performed contributes significantly to a diagnosis for the patient.
  • Provide professional advice to other professionals, multidisciplinary groups, patients and carers.
  • To participate in the training of Radiology Registrars, Sonographers, Student Sonographers and Radiography students.
  • Contribute to the operational and strategic development of ultrasound services

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
