We're seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join theStarting & Developing Well Team,on a 12-month maternity cover basis. This role centres on fostering 'Health & Wellbeing Promoting School' environments across Ceredigion, working both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic multi-agency setting.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in public health improvement and health promotion within key settings (e.g. schools, communities, early years).
  • Excellent partnership-building and influencing abilities.
  • A track record of initiating and developing successful programmes.
  • Confident working autonomously and as part of a wider team.
  • A passion for reducing health inequalities and driving innovation through continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of partnership programmes and initiatives to promote health and wellbeing across educational settings in Ceredigion.
  • Co-ordinate the local implementation of national frameworks, including the Welsh Network of Health & Wellbeing Promoting Schools (WNHWPS) and the Whole School Approach to Emotional & Mental Wellbeing (WSAEMWB).
  • Facilitate multi-agency collaboration on public health initiatives, and design robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure programme impact, address health inequalities, and improve outcomes.
  • Support and develop a skilled, motivated workforce committed to reducing health inequalities for children and young people, with a focus on mitigating the effects of child poverty.

About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
