Perinatal Occupational Therapy Technician

Job summary

The Specialist Perinatal Service is excited about the development of a Perinatal Occupational Therapy Technician post covering three counties. Our Health Board is at the forefront of delivering this innovative, preventative service, by fully integrating Perinatal Service provision within our routine antenatal services, offering all Specialist assessments in antenatal departments to normalise Perinatal Mental Health in our local communities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist Technician, who has experience of working with either adult or maternal mental health. The successful candidate will join a passionate, dynamic and creative team, who are focused on ensuring a more secure start in life, for all children, building resilience, which leads to a brighter future.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualification and Knowledge

Essential

  • Numeracy and literacy to minimum GCSE level or equivalent
  • Level 4 OT support worker diploma or equivalent experience with the ability complete support worker diploma within designated timeframe
  • Has knowledge of occupational therapy principles and grading/task analysis to improve function.
  • Have an understanding of meaningful activity as a therapeutic tool to improve function
  • Have an understanding of Perinatal mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Evidence of broad base of general education and/or life experience.
  • Knowledge of leisure, creative and technical skills and its application within one to one and group interventions.
  • Understanding of the roles of other staff groups in health and social care setting.

Desirable

  • Evidence of commitment to personal and career development relevant to clinical area
  • Level 4 in a relevant health and social care discipline or equivalent experience
  • Professional, technical or academic qualifications which relate to clinical practice
  • All Wales passports in Moving and Handling and Violence and aggression
  • Baby massage trained
  • MIMHS trained
  • Emotional Coping Skills trained.
