Job summary
This is an exciting new post for a motivated individual looking to gain further experience in anaesthetics and intensive care whilst working towards Specialty training applications. This post is full time.
The department has a good record of supporting anaesthetists in training with opportunities across both clinical and non-clinical domains to meet essential and desirable criteria for ST jobs.
Applicants must possess full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and RCOA 2021 curriculum stage 1 certificate (or equivalence)Whilst these posts are non-training, they mirror training posts, and have protected teaching and training, and can have competency sign off with our Clinical Educational Supervisors, who are closely engaged with the Welsh School of Anaesthesia/HEIW. It is hoped that Doctors coming into this post would have a very good success rate of securing specialty training numbers in the UK.
Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The post involves the opportunity to develop further develop general anaesthetic, obstetric and intensive care competencies whilst enhancing skills across the 7 non-clinical domains to build a competitive application for specialty training applications.
This post will have regular daytime theatre sessions with on call work spread across theatres, obstetrics and critical care.
