Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Community Health Care Support Worker to work within the Pembrokeshire Community Clinics, based in South Pembrokeshire Hospital. The post holder will be required to work within Leg Ulcer, Well Leg, Catheter and Earwax Management Clinics. The post is part-time, various hours available.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good inter-personal skills who is willing to work flexibly and support the Community Clinics service. Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

Following training and assessment, as part of a plan of care, undertake delegated clinical interventions including:

Non-complex wounds

Non-complex leg ulcer care (including venous and arterial ulceration)

Non-complex foot care

Pressure damage prevention and treatment

Venepuncture

ANTT

Physiological observations

Catheter care

Health promotion advice and support

Assist in trial without catheter clinic

Ear micro suctioning

Make accurate observations of the physical, psychological, social and environmental situations and communicating these observations with the registered nurse

Accurately record patient's vital signs e.g. temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rate (if required)

Recognising and reporting abnormalities

Participating in risk assessment activities relating to patient care

Obtaining specimens for diagnostic analysis e.g. urine, venepuncture

Communicate effectively with the registered nurse/Senior Sister/Clinical Lead Nurses and members of the multi-disciplinary team as appropriate

  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
