We are delighted to advertise a Consultant in Otorhinolaryngology with a special interest in Rhinology to join a very dynamic and forward-looking Otorhinolaryngology department. The successful candidate of this post would lead the subspeciality for Rhinology delivering care for the population of Hywel Dda University Health Board. By joining the team this post would ensure a sustainable service and increased expertise in a rewarding and challenging discipline. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to influence service improvement through innovative technology and pathway reform whilst working as part of the Welsh Clinical Implementation Group for Ear, Nose and Throat and Audiology.
If successful, you would join a small team of passionate and impactful colleagues dedicated to their patients and service delivery.
Candidates should be a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (or equivalent) and have their CCT or be eligible for inclusion on specialist register.
The roles report directly to the Clinical Director & Acute General Manager/Clinical Team Lead within the Speciality with ultimate accountability to the Chief Executive.
Primary base at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen with Outpatient clinics on peripheral sites.
Main duties of the job
To provide a service in Otorhinolaryngology with a specialist interest in Rhinology alongside your consultant colleagues.
Main duties include Direct Clinical Contact through Outpatient clinics, Ward rounds and Theatre activity. Administration and validation of patients with research and audit opportunities. Maintaining the appropriate clinical competence through registration and continuous professional development. Work closely with senior management colleagues and contribute to service improvement and departmental governance. Teaching and mentoring of junior staff within them is encouraged.
As a senior employee of the Health Board the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board's patients.

- MBBS or equivalent
