Job summary
This post will be an opportunity for those seeking experience in interventional respiratory medicine prior to obtaining a training number in respiratory medicine or for those already in training or at completion of respiratory medicine training wishing to gain further experience in interventional procedures.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience in thoracic ultrasound (and be expected to gain level 1 competency by the end of the post), indwelling pleural catheters, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound as well as experience in general respiratory medicine with exposure to the other departmental sub-specialty interests depending on the preference of the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of the post are the following:-o To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialtyo To participate, sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriateo To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policieso To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board's service planso To utilise core clinical expertise in undertaking routine diagnostic procedures and assessment of patients.o Have experience and knowledge of contributing to a sub-specialty service o Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary teamo Supporting and training multidisciplinary teamso Planning care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams o To be responsible for the management of patients under your team's care at Prince Philip Hospital supported by Resident Doctors.o To support the development and delivery of a sub-specialty service in hospital and in the community where appropriate.o To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's agreed objectives.o To contribute to the develop and delivery of a comprehensive service for the specialty.
