Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for permanent Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse based in the Milford Haven District Nursing Team. The post holder will have previous community experience and must have already undertaken the Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing (SPQ).
This opportunity will allow you to support or manage a delegated caseload within the Community Nursing Team providing high quality and complex care management to patients in their own homes, with the guidance and support of an experienced District Nurse Team Leader.
The post holder will ensure high standards of care are delivered to patients and their families/ carers within the home or clinic environment. This includes liaising with staff, patient/carers and other agencies/ organisations as required to ensure appropriate delegation of duties and risk management, whilst ensuring effective communication between those involved in the care package.
Along with Band 6 District Nurse colleagues, you will be required to deputise in the absence of the Band 7 District Nurse Team Leader in duties concerning the broader operational/ professional performance, quality, clinical effectiveness and effective resource/ budget management of the team.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- Combine excellent clinical practice with day to day shift coordination and undertaking leadership and management responsibilities in support of the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse.
- Continually support and work in conjunction with the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse, including deputising/ taking charge of the community nursing team in the absence of the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse.
- Provide supervisory management and strong clinical leadership skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence to recognise pressures on staff and the development of mechanisms to support and develop staff to recognise the impact of caring for people alone in a community environment which is complex and pressurised.
- Provide professional nursing leadership and guidance (in line with NMC standards), clinical advice and undertake caseload management and monitoring activities to ensure the effective delivery of high standards of nursing care at all times.
- Work alongside the community nursing team members and wider community MDT, providing support to junior colleagues in the provision of direct care to meet local public health needs for individuals, groups and the wider community.
