Job summary

If you are a dynamic individual who enjoys a challenge and would like to join a team who are passionate about providing high quality outpatient care to their patients, then we want to hear from you. We are a small team providing nurse led community clinics as well as support to various traditional Consultant led clinics across Aberaeron and Cardigan Integrated Care Centres. There will also be a requirement to provide the occasional community clinic in Tregaron.

Outpatient services offers nursing a variety of specialities to gain and consolidate clinical skill and experience and can be a good starting point for career steering or opportunities to explore future specialist roles in clinical specialities with direct clinical exposure.

Perspective candidates will be required to have recent experience within the NHS health care system and previous outpatient nursing would be advantageous. but not necessary. Training will be provided to successful candidates to enable effective working practices to support the patient experience, patient safety and to be independent practitioners in our nurse led Ear micro-suction, Trail Without Catheter & regular catheter change clinics. If successful you would also be part of a team that is developing skills to provide ambulatory care for a wide variety of care needs in the future.

Main duties of the job

Outpatient's is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment that requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own skills. We cover a wide range of Consultant led specialities including Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Ear Nose and Throat, Diabetes, Rheumatology and Paediatrics, as well as our own nurse led community clinics.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised and committed to give high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient's privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is always maintained and that the care given is patient centred. You need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially being able to form an 'instant' relationship with patients due to the transitory nature of outpatient work. We need individuals who are forward thinking, well organised with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

We are a proactive department supporting student nurses, apprentices, work placement and HCSW development. As a qualified nurse within the department, you will act as both a Practice Assessor and/or a Practice Supervisor.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
