Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a Team of Community Midwives in the North Ceredigion community midwifery team. Covering a wide geographical area from Tregaron and New Quay in the south, to Eglwys Fach in the North, the team work from their base in Bronglais General Hospital in Aberystwyth, as well as several community hubs and GP surgeries across the area.

This award winning team is passionate about providing continuity of carer, promoting choice, supporting home birth and facilitating antenatal education.

This is a Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy for 12 months until 08/06/2026 to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

The team are extremely supportive and encouraging of each other, and believe it is important to foster close and trusting working relationships within the team, in order to provide the best care for women and birthing people. They also prioritise enabling one another to develop and progress within their roles, and complete additional training to improve their service.

You will have overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery for your team of six midwives.

You will provide all aspects of midwifery care for women and their families in the community setting whilst facilitating a home birth delivery and Midwifery Led Unit Service at Bronglais General Hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
