Job summary

We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team. Applications are invited to join us in developing our service for our patients in West Wales. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provide a comprehensive haematology service in the four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post has been created as part of the redesign of haematology services across the Health Board and continue to develop as part of the wider transformation process. Our vision is to provide a future proofed service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for locally.

Our current service review will be aiming to;-

  • Promote local improvement and performance
  • Remove unwarranted variation of services
  • Drive quality and governance throughout to improve patient experience and outcomes.
  • Introduce single disciplines within Haematology
  • Aid in the delivery of a digital network.

Our staff are at the heart of the quality of our service and are looking to add to our numbers. We are looking for someone to bring additional expertise and a passion to provide excellence.

Main duties of the job

The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.

  • The post holder is required to hold and maintain their GMC registration and revalidation as per GMC's Good Medical Practice.
  • The post holder will contribute to all aspects of the general haematology and haemo-oncology work including active participation in all departmental meetings.
  • 10 Sessions per week with job plan
  • Support in training and development in sub-specialties within the department.
  • Occasional clinics in other hospital sites may be required, although options for virtual clinics are available.
  • To ensure that proper clinical records are made and maintained.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential

  • -Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • -Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • ATLS
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent), at least 2 of which in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty Or as fixed term specialty trainee in a relelvant specialty OR MBBS or recognised equivalent
  • MBBS or recognised equivalent

Desirable

  • MRCP 2 level, paces pending or full membership MRCP

  • -Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
  • Broad based experience in Haematology
