Job summary
We are looking to recruit a motivated Specialty Doctor / Senior Clinical Fellow to join colleagues in a dynamic Ophthalmology Service within the Health Board, delivering and supporting the Welsh Government's vision for NHS Wales. This appointment will join colleagues in a very dynamic forward looking ophthalmology service working across Carmarthenshire.The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the Ophthalmology service with the present Consultant and SAS doctors.

Main duties of the job
The role is for a Specialty Doctor / Senior Clinical Fellow in Ophthalmology dealing with a wide range of ophthalmic diagnoses, high volume cataract surgery, IVT and emergency eye casualty.
This appointment is offered as a permanent post as per details in the advert, and your principal place of employment being Glangwili General Hospital, although other working locations including off site working may be necessary and will form part of your agreed job plan. This will be subject to change as the Health Board's clinical requirements are amended to meet the needs of the service/patients.
You will contribute to 1:7 on call rota during the week and 1:7 on the weekends where cover expands to encompass the whole of the Health Board catchment area.
In view of the fact that the organisation is currently undertaking a review of its services and the locations at which they are undertaken, it is important to be aware that work patterns may change and the place(s) of duties modified.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
