Job summary

Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated full time permanent Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer to join our radiology team.

Located in Aberystwyth in the county of Ceredigion in mid-west Wales, Bronglais General Hospital provides diagnostic imaging to a wide geographic area, including our local university student population and the many tourists that visit this beautiful area throughout the year.

Ceredigion is a little know area of mid west Wales with outstanding local coastal and countryside resources and the space to enjoy life to the full with a wonderful work life balance.

The department is committed to role development and extension and provides opportunities for post graduate study including radiographer reporting and mammography and ultrasound training.

We currently have reporting radiographers in Plain film imaging, CT, MRI and Ultrasound.

There is an effective in house CPD programme and the Health Board has strong links with the Welsh Schools of Radiography.

Applicants will possess BSc Radiography (or recognised equivalent) and HCPC registration. The successful applicant will be based at Bronglais General Hospital but would be expected to be flexible in their approach to the needs of the service and may be required to work at other sites within the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

The recent provision of extensive Welsh Assembly investment funding has enabled substantial equipment replacement and department refurbishment.

The Radiology department has 3 DR x-ray rooms, Canon Aquilion CT scanner, Hologic Mammography unit, Dexa scanner, 4 ultrasound rooms, Siemens Artis Zee fluoroscopy room and Siemens Sola MRI scanner.

For our Band 5 staff we offer rotation through all general modalities including our Main department DR rooms, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Dental, A/E, Dexa, Mobiles and Theatres with full training and mentorship provided.

Following the initial preceptorship period we also offer occasional rotation through cross sectional imaging as an introduction to our more demanding and specialist modalities.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified Radiographers and Radiographers with previous NHS experience.

We are one of the last Health Boards in Wales which still have a very attractive on-call system that provides generous remuneration and compensatory rest time (participation in this would be mandatory once training and induction has been completed).
