Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for either an already qualified risk professional, or an individual who has the aptitude, ability, transferrable skills and experience with the desire to be trained, to become an integral part of the Assurance and Risk Team. You will need to be a dynamic, forward thinking and highly motivated individual, with excellent time management skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships across the organisation.

You will support the organisation in undertaking assurance and risk activities by using a business partnering approach, and support the development and implementation of robust governance processes and systems.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support and work collaboratively with operational delivery teams and corporate directorates to develop and embed a risk consciousness and culture within the Health Board. This in turn will drive the delivery of the assurance and risk agenda to support the achievement of organisational objectives, delivery of safe and effective services and compliance with legislation, standards and the Health Board's Risk Management Framework.

The post holder will be a positive role model, and have a broad knowledge and technical understanding of risk management and assurance, have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work on their own initiative.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. This post is advertised as a Band 6, and ideally candidates for this role must have achieved the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, with relevant experience. However, applicants who do not currently hold the qualification for the role are encouraged to apply, and if successful, will need to attain the qualification within 12 months of appointment, and will be appointed under the All Wales Annex 21 rules.

You will be supported by a development plan. During the first year payment will be 75% of the top rate of Band 6 pay. Following successful completion of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management and development plan, the post holder will be paid at the minimum point of Band 6. Support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the successful applicant to the Band 6 role. Failure to achieve the qualification and required competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
