Job summary

An exciting operational management opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Service Delivery Manager within our Scheduled Care directorate in Hywel Dda University Health Board.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and experienced operational manager to be responsible for the permanent expert operational delivery and management of Trauma & Orthopaedics services across Hywel Dda University Health Board. This provides the right candidate an opportunity to ensure delivery of safe & sustainable patient care.

This opportunity comes at an exciting time for Trauma & Orthopaedics services, and the post holder will lead on the local, regional, and national Trauma & Orthopaedics post pandemic recovery programme for the Health Board, alongside the Clinical Lead and Senior Nurse Manager.

The successful post holder will be expected to work across all sites of the Health Board and regular travel to all sites is expected as part of the role and utilise the technology available to all the Health Board staff to aid virtual communication. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the development of the Mid Wales strategy work and will need to offer a physical presence at the Bronglais site, Aberystwyth for part of the working week.

Main duties of the job

Manage hospital staff involved in the Trauma & Orthopaedics delivery provision;

Support the General Manager - Scheduled Care in their delivery of the Health Board's aims and objectives and ensure associated targets and ensure strategies are clearly communicated to all relevant staff so that effective contributions to implementation of operational plans can be made;

Manage staff working within hospitals to ensure the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness in service delivery, ensuring that activity is aligned to Health Board plans and strategies;

Work closely with the General Manager - Scheduled Care in their regular monitoring and review of operational plans relevant to Trauma & Orthopaedics.

Work with the General Manager (Scheduled Care), to contribute to the development of policies and procedures for Trauma & Orthopaedics and ensure compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures in the delivery of those services;

Work with the General Manager (Scheduled Care), to contribute to the development of robust strategic plans and policies for Trauma & Orthopaedics and develop operational plans as necessary to transpose long term aims into routine tasks;

Ensure delivery of delegated corporate objectives and activity targets, translating service delivery plans into actions and developing systems for performance management.
