Job summary

The role involves working within the dermatology department located in outpatients. The team includes x2 Consultant Plastic Surgeons, x1 Locum Consultant Dermatologist, x3 Specialty Doctors in Dermatology, Advances Pharmacist as well as a team of nurses for both skin lesions and inflammatory.

The clinics are a mixture of general dermatology clinics, including biologics and inflammatory as well as skin cancer and non cancer lesions. Paediatric inflammatory clinics feature as well. The clinics involves a combination of reviewing new and follow up patients. There is an opportunity to have minor operative clinics, undertaking biopsies and skin excisions.

MDT clinics for both inflammatory and skin cancers are held weekly, with team meetings on a monthly basis.

The post involves leading a team in conjunction with the other Consultants and maintaining a quality service for patients. Improvements and innovation is welcomed.

The job plan is run across 10 sessions, with a proposed 7:3 split, including triaging and administrative duties as well as an SPA session.

Main duties of the job

  • Reviewing new and follow up patients

  • Chairing/leading MDT meetings
  • Undertaking minor operative clinics
  • Covering major dermatological specialities, such as skin cancer, biologics, inflammatory and skin lesions
  • Engaging in team meetings, audits and improvement projects
  • Identifying areas of improvement
  • Daily/weekly triaging both electronic and paper referrals
  • Prescription duties
