Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board's Digital Services department has embarked on an exciting investment to refresh its network and across all its sites with the latest Cisco, Fortinet and Mitel technologies. We require a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Networks) to work with us to provide the day-today support on our network infrastructure and to support the implementations of new systems and technologies. The role will also be the key lead for these technologies providing expert advice and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to work as part of, and when required lead a team of network technicians and engineers who provide day-to-day operational support to the Health Board and work on a range of projects.

Main duties of the job

Educated to degree standard with evidence of professional development the successful candidate will require technical skills in the following areas:

- Cisco switching technologies and equipment especially the NEXUS / Catalyst ranges- Cisco PRIME, ISE and DNA- Aruba wireless networking- Network authentication technologies- Local and wide area networking technologies- Experience of IP routing technologies- Fortinet Firewalls and network security systems- Network monitoring (e.g. Solarwinds)- TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS

The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Health Board's on-call rota providing 24x7 support.

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

  • Degree in ICT discipline or equivalent experience in the core skills required of this post via extensive practical experience.
  • Additional postgraduate professional technical qualifications in relevant areas (e.g. CCNE, CCNA).
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite including Project and Visio.

Desirable

  • Any formal ITIL qualifications.
  • PRINCE2 qualifications.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

Essential

  • Working in a team managing and supporting a complex multi-site ICT networking infrastructure
  • Extensive experience including some of:- Cisco networking, Aruba Wireless, Network security and authentication, Networking principles and technologies, Fortigate firewalls, Solarwinds or similar monitoring technologies, LAN technologies (cabling etc.), WAN technologies, TCP/IP networking, DHCP & DNS, IP routing protocols
