Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Children and Adolescence Mental Health (sCAMHS) Early Intervention for Psychosis (EIP) Service for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team to help deliver a high quality effective service to help young people (14-25 years old) with a first episode of psychosis (FEP) in their recovery and to gain a good quality of life.

You will be joining a very experienced, multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychotherapists, and medical staff. Although, you will be part of the Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, you will work closely with colleagues in Adult Mental Health Services, Adult Primary and Secondary Mental Health Services to ensure that individuals experience a seamless and co-ordinated approach to their care.

We welcome applications from qualified systemic psychotherapists who have experience within Adult services and/or sCAMHS.

As a member of the sCAMHS team you will have access to specialist supervision in family based interventions by a senior systemic psychotherapist, with access to regular individual and group supervision. The Post Holder will join a wider communities of practice of systemic psychotherapists and practitioners with varied opportunities to develop their skills through joint working and being part of a reflective team within the wider family therapy clinic.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder will provide specialist systemic clinical assessment, formulation and treatment approaches. Interested individuals will also be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to driving forwards the continued development of the EIP Service. Additional training will be provided in Behavioural Family Intervention if not already qualified. You will also provide a highly specialised systemic and family psychotherapy service within Specialist Child and Adolescent mental Health EIP Service, and provide evidence family based treatment for young people with psychosis and co morbid mental health issues in line with local and National policy (NICE, Welsh Government). You will also give priority to family assessment and family based interventions in regard to accepted referrals to the EIP Service and provide a specialist systemic perspective within a multi-disciplinary EIP team on highly complex cases.

  • MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy (qualification equivalent to Doctoral level).
  • To be registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).

Desirable

  • Additional training/ qualification in health related speciality
  • Specialist knowledge of EIP presentations
  • Qualification in Behaviour Family Intervention (BFT) or commitment to work towards
  • Additional qualification / experience in cognitive behavioural techniques / EMDR / psychodynamic / integrative psychotherapy
