Job summary

The Integrated Psychological Therapies Service (IPTS) has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time EMDR Therapist (B6) to join our team in Ty Myddfai, Johnstown in Carmarthen.

You will join an experienced multi-disciplinary team of practitioners and therapists including Psychotherapists, Psychologists; Psychiatrist; Nurses and Occupational Therapists. The role will require you to have a core profession (e.g. Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist) and completed, at a minimum, all parts of Standard Accredited EMDR therapy training.

As a service we offer monthly supervision with an EMDR Consultant, supporting you in working towards Accreditation as an EMDR Therapist with EMDR UK Association, as well as peer support and continuing professional activities to aid with professional development. You will be part of the psychological therapies team and therefore have access to other multi-modularity therapists.

The post is based in Carmarthen, however, there will be an expectation to deliver therapy across the HDUHB footprint as and when required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the IPTS across the Three Counties of Hywel University Dda Health Board (HDUHB), delivering EMDR to service users in both the primary and secondary care sectors.

The post holder will work with people across different cultural backgrounds and adults over the age of 18, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

  • Specialist knowledge within the field of clinical skills gained through theoretical and practical training and experience to postgraduate diploma level
  • Diploma/Degree level training in a psychology or health subject (e.g. RMN, OT, Social Work) AND Current registration on an appropriate professional register (e.g. NMC, HCPC) OR Counsellor / Psychotherapist with diploma level training and full accreditation with recognised professional body, e.g. BACP, UKCP, BABCP
  • EMDR UK standard accredited training which is compliant with EMDR Europe criteria and standards.(The successful completion of other EMDR Europe approved training, and accreditation is accepted, eg EMDR Ireland
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NMC or other professional bodies codes of practice
