Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 post for a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist within Carmarthenshire. The initial post is based in Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) working between Brynmair Clinic in Llanelli and Swn y Gwynt in Ammanford with the option to be a part of the Band 5 OT rotation in the health board. The rotation includes posts in medical wards, orthopaedics, community rehabilitation and stroke.

The post holder will work within teams of experienced Band 6 Band 7 OTs, and Band 3 and 4 support workers.

The post holder will work within the wider OT team providing services to a defined client group in Carmarthenshire.

Applicants must be willing to work over a 7 day week in line with planned service improvements. The ability to manage time and prioritize workload is fundamental to effective service delivery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will function as part of a network of occupational therapy practitioners, gaining guidance from expert practitioners from a variety of specialties as necessary. There is an excellent professional support network including a HDUHB OT Clinical Practice group which meets regularly. You will also receive regular professional and line managerial supervision.

The post holder will practice as an autonomous practitioner with a varied patient caseload. To plan, modify & carry out assessment and interventions / treatments in accordance with the recovery approach and refer to other disciplines as necessary.

The post holder will act as a care coordinator to a small delegated caseload with defined Occupational Therapy needs, whilst Occupational Therapy intervention is being carried out, working creatively and constructively with Health, Social Care and Third Sector agencies.

Other duties include:

Provide assessment and intervention to improve functional skills of those with severe and enduring mental health problems.

To complete standardised and non standardised assessments and reports.

Provide both 1:1 interventions as well as delivering group work you will have the opportunity to deliver the 'Recovery Through Activity' programme.

To delegate work to OT technician.
