Job summary
Pathology invites applications for the senior management post of Cellular Pathology Service Manager based in Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen. The service manager will be responsible for the delivery of Histology, Cytology and Mortuary Services across Hywel Dda University Health board (HDUHB) and will actively participate in the development of regional working with Swansea Bay Health Board (SBUHB).
The department is actively participating in an All Wales digital pathology solution for Cellular Pathology and is also working in partnership with SBUHB, Public Health Wales and Swansea University under the umbrella of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH) to develop a regional centre of excellence for Pathology services across Mid and South West Wales.
The successful post holder will join the team at an exciting time and will become a key stakeholder in the development of the innovative regional centre of excellence, maximising the advancement in digital and precision Pathology. The individual will initially be employed by HDUHB until a regional management model is established. The post will then transition into a regional role.
An ethos of continual service improvement and modernisation within the context of financial efficiency is essential, with the ability to innovate and be creative together with a desire to work collaboratively with neighbouring SBUHB for the longer-term resilience of the service and to benefit our patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will require excellent communication and organisational skills in order to be instrumental in providing operational leadership to ensure the delivery of a high quality, timely and effective Cellular Pathology and Mortuary service, which meets both UKAS accreditation and HTA standards and where user experience is paramount.
HCPC registered, you will have substantial experience in Cellular Pathology, with a good understanding of current issues in the service, health and safety legislation and quality standards.
