Job summary

Provide leadership and expert professional advice ensuring visibility,accessibility and support in all areas of maternity care at Bronglais General Hospital. To work autonomously and with the multidisciplinary team inclusive of Head of Midwifery, Deputy Head of Midwifery and Operational Lead Midwives and members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality services within set organizational targets and national guidance.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical and professional leadership in a bespoke small Obstetric Unit in Aberystwyth to support the delivery of high quality midwifery care.

We are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, inspirational midwife with a proven track record in successful management at a senior level within an acute and community setting, with a passion for leading on service innovation and change.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registered midwife with current NMC registration
  • Qualified to Degree level or able to demonstrate a commitment to work towards attaining
  • Masters in Nursing/ midwifery or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of formal development in Leadership
  • Evidence of continuing professional and practice development
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of practice, Midwives Rules & Standards
  • Understanding of Health Board Policies, Procedure and Guidelines
  • Knowledge and application of Clinical Governance issues
  • Knowledge of current developments in maternity services

Desirable

  • Registered Nurse
  • Current NLS Registration with the UK Resuscitation Council
