Job summary

We are looking to recruit two Assistant Finance Business Partners into the following teams:

Post 1 - This post holder will report directly to the Senior Finance Business Partner and be responsible for the management of the health board corporate directorates (Finance, Digital, Nursing, Performance, Medical, Strategic planning, Chief executive and Workforce).

Post 2 - This post holder will report directly to the Finance Business Partner for Therapies, Public Health and Oncology, but will also support the Finance Business Partner for Radiology, Pathology and Women and Children.

In both posts the Assistant Finance Business Partner will form part of a team of 5 and be led by a Senior Finance Business Partner and supported by the Finance Business Partners.

As the team's Assistant Finance Business Partner you will be integral in making a meaningful difference for our local population, supporting directorates within the Health Board. The role will require the translation and triangulation of operational strategies into financial cost and benefits, with an overall aim of ensuring service resilience, sustainability and value for money.

Main duties of the job

Provide strong financial leadership to the Directorates you support ensuring their performance delivery, providing appropriate governance and sound professional advice and support.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that a robust financial management and planning process is in place including spend analysis, forecasting, final month end reporting and annual financial planning / budgeting.

The role will include supporting the Directorate's Finance Business Partners and Senior Finance Business Partner in providing sustainable financial planning across a number of areas including

Modelling and tracking spend plans against Welsh Government funding allocations (SIF, ICF, Transformation and other external funding sources)

Provide support in annual programmes of work targeted to deliver savings

Develop and support on creation of business cases to deliver change in the Health Board

Capacity demand modelling

Activity performance analysis

System wide analysis

Providing financial updates at various forums on spend and projected costs to assist with decision making.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
