Job summary
This is a unique role to support the development and communication of the seven Primary Care Clusters that operate within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area.
Working to develop and deliver communications plans and activities that will support the promotion of cluster projects, your role will educate patients and the wider public about Primary Care Clusters.
You will translate and communicate the health board's values to be meaningful within the Primary Care setting.
You will create and deliver great content that helps Cluster Leads and members engage and influence their colleagues and patients, providing information on access to new and existing services.
You will be interested in behaviour change, and work to support improvements in population health.
With a keen eye for a story, you'll be confident in creating news and other content, spotting opportunities to recognise and celebrate our achievements.
As a communications professional, you will be confident in planning and implementing campaigns, creating content, responding to enquiries, and making best use of traditional and digital media.
Main duties of the job
- Plan communication activities on behalf of Primary Care Clusters that are responsive and balance the need for proactive service development and reactive activity.
- Develop individual communications plans for each Primary Care Cluster, including the identification of key projects and messages for staff and members of the public, setting out a timetable of planned communications activity using a range of channels.
- Provide professional communication advice on content development and placement, media response, design, editing and proof reading.
- Plan, organise and deliver straightforward communication activities including meetings, events, press conferences (on non-hostile issues) and photo-calls. Ensure public speakers at events are prepared in advance and act as a key contact for media partners.
- Brief journalists in person or over the phone on sensitive issues, with agreed key messages

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.
