Job summary

Hywel Dda UHB has an exciting opportunity to develop prehabilitation services to support patients in preparation for cancer treatment. We are seeking an exceptional, inspirational, dynamic and experienced physiotherapist to support the development and implementation of a new and innovative cancer prehabilitation service.

Hywel Dda UHB is the second health board in Wales to launch a prehabilitation service for people with cancer. The "Prehab through to Rehab" programme will support people to prepare for cancer treatment by enhancing patients clinical, functional and wellbeing outcomes, as well as improving patient experience.

This is a permanent position within the newly established Cancer Prehabilitation service.

Main duties of the job

Working as a multidisciplinary prehabilitation team, the successful candidate will provide specialist and targeted interventions to optimise patients before treatment and rehabilitation post treatment.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible in delivering interventions through both virtual and face to face contacts to deliver a health board wide service.

Applications are invited from individuals with demonstrable experience in working with people with cancer. They should be interested in working as part of a MDT therapy service, which actively supports professional development and is committed to excellent patient care and service improvement.

The role will also include the opportunity to provide supervision and teaching to therapy assistant practitioners. The University Health Board proactively supports training and development both as part of internal and external CPD.

The post holder will have ability to travel between sites across the health board as required and show to have a flexible approach to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
