Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, highly knowledgeable and innovative individual to join the Finance Directorate as a Corporate Reporting & Planning Finance Manager supporting high priority reporting projects.

This unique role covers the holistic Health Board wide view, with the opportunity to work with the Finance Senior Management and Executive team across Acute, Community, Primary Care and Specialised sectors of healthcare. This offers an opportunity to work across divisions encouraging integration and transformation of services throughout the Health Board.

The post holder will support the Head of Corporate Reporting & Planning in influencing the strategic decision making and financial planning within the Health Board through the provision of insightful analytics, presented in a meaningful way for a highly complex organisation. This role will be supported by both the wider Corporate Reporting team and a centralised Management Accounting team.

Candidates should be CCAB/CIMA qualified.

Main duties of the job

Forward thinking: ensuring that financial forecasts and modelling are developed and embedded in the way we work, and that effective risk management arrangements are embedded;

Financial monitoring: resource use, including variances from budget, long term trends and projections;

Options and decisions: Supporting policy decisions and business cases with evidence-based financial information.

Financial intelligence: ensuring that value, is an integral part of our arrangements;

Financial governance: ensuring that arrangements are fit for purpose;

Whole-system: Financial consequences are considered across the organisation and within divisions;

About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
