Job summary
A very exciting Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Care and Stepdown Unit in Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.
The unit consists of six acute Coronary Care beds and seven Cardiac Stepdown beds. We also have the facility to monitor fourteen telemetry beds on adjoining wards.
We care for patients admitted with a variety of conditions including myocardial infarction, congestive cardiac failure, endocarditis, cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary embolism, and cerebral vascular accidents requiring thrombolysis.
Glangwili Coronary Care Unit also receives repatriation for ST elevation myocardial infarctions patients post primary percutaneous cardiac intervention. Working closely with our four cardiac consultants we offer a permanent pacemaker, cardioversions, transoesophageal echo and dobutamine stress echo service for the whole of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
As part of our friendly, supportive, and professional team you will work closely with other specialities within the hospital caring for acutely ill patients who need cardiac monitoring on the unit.
We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and patient focused nurse, who has a specific interest in cardiac nursing.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of individualised care for our patients. Applicants will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills.
The successful applicant will be expected to: -
Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate the programmes of care without supervision.
Delegate the delivery of care where appropriate, in line with NHS Wales delegation framework.
Ensure that the patient's physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs are met, including the fundamental aspects of care needs.
Monitor and evaluate the standards of care provided by the clinical team.
Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team and provide specialist nursing advice as appropriate to own areas of expertise.
Deal with complex clinical and managerial situations that arise
Seek appropriate advice when there are any concerns regarding potential /actual risk to any patient or their dependents.
Ensure effective discharge planning forms a core component of care planning and delivery.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
