Post: Locum Consultant in Care of the Elderly
Location: Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen
Salary: £94,683 per annum
This is a replacement post and you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking , Care of the Elderly/General Internal Medicine department. The Care of the Elderly/General Internal Medicine team contributes to the acute medical on-call. The post holder will be encouraged to develop his or her own subspecialty interest but an interest in stroke and/or movement disorders would be welcome.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder's specific responsibilities would be:
To participate in the acute medical take on a 1:10 rota. Patients are cared for by on-call teams and acute physicians until their care is transferred to the wards where ward based teams care for patients.
Dewi Ward - Dementia/ frailty ward. Gwenllian Ward - 20 bedded stroke ward with Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) and rehabilitation beds. The geriatric medicine team delivers a front door and community frailty service. The development of a Same Day Emergency Care unit will include Frailty pathways Very occasional domiciliary visits at the request of GP's.
