Job summary

To autonomously manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based /client centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in primary and secondary care settings.The post holder will work in the Adult CMHT, delivering OT services to a defined client group in Community Services, and in-reach to the Acute Patient Service when required.In conjunction with others develop the OT role within this area; this will involve working creatively and constructively across Health, Social Care and Third Sector agencies.To work closely with the multidisciplinary team and across agencies in providing services.To function as part of a network of occupational therapy practitioners, gaining guidance from expert practitioners from a variety of specialties as necessary.To supervise and manage the work of a designated group of staff.To contribute to the maintenance, planning, development and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service in Hywel Dda Health Board.

Main duties of the job

Hywel Dda University Health Board is currently looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Community Occupational Therapist to join the Community Mental Health Team for Adults based at Bro Cerwyn Haverfordwest covering the north area of Pembrokeshire.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with clients with complex mental health needs across a variety of service areas and will fully endorse the recovery approach to intervention. He/she will be dynamic and innovative in their practice and be able to provide examples of client-centered care.

Mental Health Services are currently going through transition within the transforming mental health agenda with a view to tailoring services to meet the needs of service users closer to home. This transformation agenda will endorse the recovery approach and provide opportunities to develop close links with other service providers.

The successful candidate will be able to take advantage of excellent CPD opportunities and be able to contribute to shaping services of the future. Regular clinical supervision and peer support during clinical practice meetings and in service training sessions are seen as key to promoting professional development.

  • Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Current HPC registration
  • Evidence of attendance on relevant short courses to postgraduate diploma level
