An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced GP to be the Senior Clinical Editor as part of the pathways interface team, on the development of clinical pathways for Primary care within Hywel Dda University Health Board Strategic Development and Operational Planning Directorate.The Clinical Pathways work will provide a 'roadmap' to support the pathway changes needed to deliver on Hywel Dda's ambitious Clinical Strategy Healthier Mid and West Wales. The focus being on prevention and early intervention and delivering on Prudent Healthcare principles including 'Right care Right place Right time'.

The pathways interface system will provide primary care with evidence based clinical pathways for clinicians to support patients and service users to self-manage or receive care as close to home as possible to avoid referral to hospital for planned or unplanned conditions.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve the development of localised and specific clinical pathways to support clinicians with their patients within consultations. The successful candidate will work closely with condition experts within secondary care or specialist service to negotiate and ensure each pathway has a local consensus and clinical agreement for their region and ensure that the pathways interface is used by and useful to general practice and hospital clinicians.The successful candidate will work proactively with the pathways programme team to identify pathway priorities and opportunities and have a good understanding of translating evidence based clinical pathways to practice.The successful candidate must be an experienced practicing general practitioner who has a broad understanding of general practice, secondary care services, community and voluntary sector.The senior clinical editor role will also lead and mentor the clinical pathway editor team and ensure pathway quality assurance and approve and sign off all clinical changes. The senior clinical editor will also work closely to develop and maintain relationships with the pathways interface provider.The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and inspiring with proven leadership, facilitation, and negotiation skills. They must provide evidence of managing performance of others and demonstrates prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
