Job summary

Clinical Research Fellow at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. The appointment to the department of medicine will be for one year initially with the potential to extend to two years if required, available from August 2022.This post forms part of the second on-call Middle Grade rota, are full time and attracts additional sessions or appropriate banding for full shift pattern rota which at present is 1:11.Applicants must possess full GMC reg and should have completed at least four years full time postgraduate training at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a FTSTA in a relevant specialty, or the candidate should have equivalent experience and competencies. Full MRCP is essential.The appointment to the department of medicine will be for one year initially with the potential to extend to two years if required. They will have some experience in respiratory clinics and ward work at middle-grade level.

Main duties of the job

The aim of the appointment is to provide generic and focused research experience alongside middle-grade support to the consultant physicians with a special interest in Respiratory Medicine.

Other than 2 Clinics, there are no fixed inpatient commitments (apart from procedures for the Interventional Fellow), unless covering annual and study leave. The post-holder will be attached to the respiratory team covering the 2 respiratory registrars when they are on annual and study leave being available for general ward cover of junior staff including supervision of ward admissions, diagnosis and treatments. The post holder should assist in the teaching and training of Junior Medical Staff and undergraduate students and participate in regular audit meetings.The Postgraduate Department in Prince Philip Hospital has a fully developed programme of guest lectures and Grand Round lunchtime meetings, including special interest groups and co-ordinated intra-practice activities and career counselling. The library offers a wide ranging book and journal collection, with interlibrary lending network, excellent IT facilities, and our post graduate department has excellent audio-visual and video-conferencing equipment.
