Job summary

The Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team are looking for an experienced Senior Diversity and Inclusion Officer to support communities who face inequality in health outcomes.

Specific objectives and areas of work can be found in the Job Description, but the role will mainly focus around:

Strategy and policy advice

Training, communication and engagement activities

The role requires experienced, appropriately qualified and competent professionals with broad experience in EDI work and a sound understanding of the policy and legislative context. The ability to negotiate and influence at all levels is essential.

You will work collaboratively with EDI Teams across Wales and key stakeholders. You must be a team player but with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise own workload to meat deadlines.

You will advise and support staff to complete complex equality and health impact assessment procedures for large-scale planning projects and service redesign as part of the Health Board's long-term plans for a Healthier Mid and West Wales. Experience in undertaking equality impact assessments is essential for this post.

This is a full-time post working hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work to support community engagement activities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the EDI Manager and have strong connections both to internal and external partners.

You will work with the EDI Manager and the wider team to implement the Health Board's Strategic Equality Objectives. This will include working on a range of projects, ensuring that they are inclusive of the needs of our service users and staff, and that they are compliant with relevant EDI legislation.

Other duties include developing and delivering general awareness training, facilitating staff networks, attending community events, and monitoring activity to ensure that the Health Board remains on target to achieve national and local equality objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for providing clear, articulate reports and specialist advice based on evidence and performance information and best practice in relation to EDI, in order to provide assurance on the Health Board's compliance with relevant legislation and progress against the its stated equality objectives.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.
