Job Title: Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Location: Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours / 10 session per week
Salary: £86,063 - £111,732 per annum
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist: special interest to be discussed and determined to suit the candidate and the HB requirements.
The post holder will generally be expected to undertake their programmed activities at the principal place of work or other locations agreed in the Job Plan. Exceptions will include travelling between work sites and attending official meetings away from the workplace. A planned and cost effective approach is expected and is included in the DCC sessional allocation.
The post holder may be required to work at any site within the Health Board, including new sites.
Main duties of the job
Participate in a hot week on call structure at BGH.
Support and work with colleagues in other sites across the trust to develop services.
Carry out general and specialist DGH and Community-based outpatient clinics.
Provide effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members of the unit.
Develop teaching, training and research within the department and Organisation Support on call services at BGH and Glangwili General Hospital (GGH).
The potential for Health Board-wide developments and a closer liaison with primary care and social services is substantial and exciting.
A major expansion in undergraduate medical student teaching is planned.
The department in BGH is part of the larger trust wide directorate and applicants will be expected to work closely with colleagues across all sites.
The department in BGH currently offers early pregnancy, outpatient diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, colposcopy and inpatient services.
Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
