Job summary
To assist the Clinical Psychologist in the professional psychological care of children and families within Specialist CAMHS, and specifically within the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Service /Forensic CAMHS / TISSHB Therapeutic Intervention for Sexually Harmful Behaviour Service, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the Specialist CAMHS policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. Utilize research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the post. Assist with and deliver training and consultation to non-psychologist colleagues. To report data on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of Young Person (YP) and families under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, applying psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's needs, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy. Undertake risk assessments required and develop risk management plans. Assist in formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a YP's or family's problems. Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner. Assist in the evaluation and decision making about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models, and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual family or group. Assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all children and families of the service. This may include assisting or providing consultation to other professionals.
