Job summary
The Community Dental Service (CDS) in Powys Teaching Health Board is looking to appoint a part-time (6 sessions) Consultant Oral Surgeon. We seek a colleague who can demonstrate their ability to develop the existing oral surgery service in Powys and work as part of our existing multidisciplinary team and have a good working relationship with visiting consultant colleagues, local GPs and dentists. The CDS in Powys provides a wide range of dental services including general dentistry, paediatric dentistry, inhalation and IV sedation, special care dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, restorative dentistry and minor oral surgery. In addition, it provides foundation dentist training and supervision of dental students. There is no on-call commitment attached to this job. There is access to CBCT in north Powys
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will lead a service providing oral surgery care throughout Powys and will divide their time between clinics in community hospitals in Brecon and Llandrindod Wells. Currently the team is made up with experienced dentists with a special interest in oral surgery, experienced oral surgery nurses some of whom are trained in radiography. There is also administrative support in place to support the successful appointee. The team is skilled, cohesive and effective.
