THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 6 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING

The Smoking Cessation advisor will work as part of a team, providing effective smoking cessation interventions, aligned to 'Help Me Quit' (HMQ) programmes, to those people wishing to make a quit attempt.
This will include managing new referrals, assessing a client's motivation and readiness to quit, providing smoking cessation interventions in line with the evidence base and to agreed National standards and organising and delivering smoking cessation support groups or individual appointments.
Therefore Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking someone who is passionate about smoking cessation services and is able to demonstrate that they are an effective, dynamic and motivated practitioner.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree level education or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Recognised professional qualification in health or social care eg. RGN, HCPC, Diploma in Counselling, CQSW
- Understanding of the principles and practice of client confidentiality
- Health related behaviour and behaviour change strategies
- Knowledge of existing smoking cessation services
Desirable
- Counselling qualification eg. Certificate in Counselling, WNB Counselling Skills
- National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training (NCSCT) Advisor training
- Knowledge of nicotine replacement therapy
