Children’s Specialist Palliative Care Nurse & Practice Educator

Job summary

The Children's Health Services in Powys Teaching Health Board are excited to be able to advertise this new developed specialist hybrid role for the service. The role is a combination of both a Children's Clinical Nurse Specialist for Children's Palliative care and a Practice Educator for the Children's community Nursing service.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Registered Children's Nurse who can demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills for nursing children, and have a key interest in the sharing of those skills and in the development of a children's Palliative Care service

Ideally the candidate will have a qualification in Children's Palliative care and in Practice Education. Annex 21 will be considered for a suitable candidate in the absence of the qualification, with commitment to complete the required qualifications in a timely manner.

Agile working arrangements can be considered. This is a pan Powys role.

Main duties of the job

Work as a team member of the integrated Children's Community Nursing Service and the All Wales Managed ClinicalNetwork (AWMCN) for Children's Palliative Care, to lead on the delivery of specialist palliative care advice.o Clinically responsible to both the service and the Clinical Network, and Managerially/Professionally accountable to PowysTeaching Health Board.o This service is provided in different contexts and cultures, across a range of health, education and social care settings. Theprinciples of holistic care, health promotion, empowerment and quality of life underpin this responsibility.o Responsibility for the development of core clinical skills within the Children's Community Nursing Service.o Represent PTHB at the All-Wales Children's Practice Educator Forum and leads the development of education andcompetency frameworks for both HCSW's and Registered Nurses within the CCN in PTHB, facilitating restorative supervisionas required.o May work on occasions with partner agencies and specialist nursing colleagues to ensure that children with complex healthneeds can continue to attend school and other community activities.
