Job summary

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 24 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING

This role includes leading on specific elements of the implementation and delivery of public health programmes in early years/educational settings across Powys, through the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is expected to work under the direction and guidance of Senior Public Health staff, who will agree specific work objectives according to local needs and priorities.

Preventing childhood obesity has been identified as a specific local priority. The postholder will have responsibility for driving the rollout of the Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award, which will involve travel to early years settings across Powys.

There will be close working with colleagues in the Public Health Team and other Health Board teams such as Dietetics and Flying Start, as well as developing and maintaining effective relationships with external partner organisations and agencies as appropriate.

This post is Fixed Term/Secondment until 31 March 2027.

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience in an allied discipline or professional qualification i.e. any of the following: - Registered Nurse on Sub-part 1 of NMC Register Registered with a UK statutory regulator (e.g., HCPC) or working towards registration Registered with UKPHR or working towards registration Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate of Registration
  • Knowledge of Public Health policy / strategies
  • Basic knowledge of the health policy context for NHS and local partners Health determinant
  • Knowledge of one or more Health Promotion programme areas

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD
  • Registered, or working towards registration, with the UK Public Health Register (Practitioner Registration)
