Job summary

An opportunity has arisen withing Digital Services to support necessary networking infrastructure upgrades to support Powys Teaching health boards' digital transformation programme. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual with some network experience to join the team.

THIS IS A FIXED TERM POSITION FOR 12 MONTHS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for deploying & managing Cisco Wired & Wireless network infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable connectivity.

Responding to incidents and requests for network related faults and queries in line with departmental Standard Operating Procedures

Providing advice and support to Field Service Engineers and acting as a point of escalation for networking related issues.

Proactive Monitoring and Maintenance of all network infrastructure.

Travel to all health board sites as required to carry out necessary physical work.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Network Upgrades, Maintenance & Maintenance: Carry our physical and logical upgrades to the health boards digital networking infrastructure. This would include deployment & configuration of Firewalls, Switches and wireless access points will be primary focus of the role.

Incident Response: Respond, investigate and work to resolve network performance or failures as they are reported, working to ensure that departmental response and resolution times are met where possible.

Communications :

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and other NHS professional staff.
  • Ensure working relationships are established and maintained.
  • Empathise when dealing with individuals who may have barriers to understanding.
  • Deal with suppliers and develop constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise, influence and negotiate effectively and efficiently within the organisation and with customers and suppliers.
  • Attend meetings at all levels of the organisation as required as well as providing information and support.
  • Work with external suppliers to troubleshoot complex network issues.

Documentation: Creates and maintains detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. to ensure that there is a comprehensive reference available for troubleshooting, network audits, and future upgrades.

Cyber Security: Understand basic IT security principles and report risks & issues immediately.
