Job summary

A unique and exciting fixed term secondment opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a Research Finance and Costings Manager.

This role will suit a self-motivated individual with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to think laterally and work with minimal day to day supervision.

The post holder will require:

Be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part ofa very busy team.

Main duties of the job

The key duties as follows:

To be responsible for the financial management of the commercial related income that is received by the Health and Care Research Wales Support and Delivery Centre by developing and implementing robust financial processes and transparent reporting.

Support the Senior Funding, Finance and Contracts Manager by contributing to the wider NHS R&D finance and costings work programme which includes supporting the development, updating and implementation of national standardised NHS R&D finance and costings policies, facilitating cost recovery mechanisms for NHS research and supporting the implementation of income distribution models.

The post is fixed term / secondment for 2 years due to funding.

  • Postgraduate qualification in a health/ social care discipline, research or management, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Project management experience in a relevant setting
  • Specialised knowledge of R&D finance in a Health/Social care setting
  • Specialist knowledge in applying the following accounting concepts - budgeting, financial planning, costing, variance analysis and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of costing commercial research in the UK
