THIS POST IS SECONDMENT FOR 20 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 3 Medical Secretary to join the Community Paediatric Service in Brecon War Memorial Hospital until March 2026. The successful applicant will provide a robust secretarial and administrative office function to the Consultant Paediatrician's within the service. Duties will include; dealing with patients relatives, carers and external partners on a regular, day to day basis using tact and diplomacy, transcribing medical correspondence, audio typing, appointment booking and caching up of clinical activity, undertaking mail and filing duties and liaising with departments to co-ordinate patient pathway and retrieval of patients medical notes.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be required to work to a high standard of accuracy, have excellent organisational and typing skills and be able to demonstrate initiative in planning their own workload to support the team to effectively deliver clinical services.
Applicants will be highly organised, efficient and posses a high level of attention to detail, supported by strong ICT skills. Along with excellent time and diary/calendar management skills and have the ability to prioritise requests and conflicting demands.
