Job summary

Powys is committed to providing a Suicide Bereavement Support Service; our partnership-based approach provides timely and compassionate support for people and communities bereaved, affected and exposed to suicide.

Suicide Bereavement Co-ordinators deliver flexible and person-centred support to individuals, families and groups in the early stages of bereavement through suspected suicide across Powys, as well as reaching those affected and exposed.

Main duties of the job

Powys is committed to developing specific Suicide Bereavement Support Services; our partnership-based approach, consisting of a mix of newly funded and existing services, will introduce timely and appropriate support for people and communities bereaved and affected by suicide.

Postvention Co-ordinators deliver flexible and person-centred support to individuals in the early stages of bereavement through suspected suicide across Powys. The post holder will maintain links with those individuals and families for at least 3 years to offer signposting to other services as the needs of the individual/families change. In addition, supporting and signposting those affected and exposed to suicide.

The post holder would be a suitably skilled individual to help shape the new Postvention service; be a highly resilient individual, with relevant experience of frontline support work, who can support traumatised and distressed individuals, families and communities in a person centred and highly compassionate manner who are recently bereaved or affected by suicide.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
