Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Domestic Assistant within the main hospital of Newtown.

You will need to be a motivated and reliable individual with good communication skills. As part of the role you will be working closely with clinical staff and other various departments. A good understanding of health and safety is essential. Any training requirements will be given.

Main duties of the job

The Hotel Services Domestic Assistant is responsible to the Hotel ServicesSupervisor to undertake a range of housekeeping duties, which includesprimarily the cleaning of elements within the wards and departments on sites as directed.

To maintain a high standard of food hygiene in support of providing patient meals, snacks and beverages as directed.

To carry out other relevant duties associated with the domestic service and periodically those as directed to support the wider Hotel Services Team e.g. catering or porter tasks.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • To have gained sufficient experience in the cleaning industry to be able to demonstrate an understanding of safe working practices and techniques that would meet the requirements within this role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Literacy and Numeracy L1 or equivalent
  • Knowledge gained on corporate and local induction, completion of internal training programme within 6/8 weeks,
  • Appropriate Health and Safety Training. Fire Training. Moving and handling skills. Cleanliness Champion training. Knowledge of policies and procedures. Knowledge of the site. Basic food hygiene.
  • Successful completion of agreed minimum training within the first 12 months of employment

Desirable

  • To have gained or have previously received food safety awareness training.
  • To have gained a Level 2 NVQ in cleaning services or equivalent or are willing to participate in further training to achieve it.
  • To have gained a Level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent or are willing to participate in further training to achieve it.
