Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in the CMHT in Ystradgynlais to appoint a specialist Occupational therapist to cover maternity leave, As a service we are looking to work flexibly within the team covering secondary care, MAS and the in patient service.
This is an exciting, busy and challenging time and we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic and person centered Specialist Occupational Therapist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the OT will carry out OT assessments and provide Specialist OT interventions for patients in their home and on the ward, the role has been shaped to allow the successful candidate to focus on evidence-based OT interventions, and be an integral part of a small team of mental health staff.
Main duties of the job
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER
If you are an internal applicant this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview
Providing peer support and an occupational view to lead patient recovery is integral in the MDT, and OT is a valued profession within the team. As a service the OT works closely with other OT staff across PTHB and the Local Authority and will have a basic knowledge of equipment and physical health difficulties with the ability to prescribe small pieces of equipment where needed. Specialist knowledge of Occupational Models of practice and experience of their application in the mental health setting is essential. The mental health OT team are undertaking LACLS training, and the service will use MOHO / MOHOST as standard assessment tools. There are training opportunities, with the developing use of LACLs with-in the service, and patient groups are now developed with in teams, structured using Recovery Through Activity, which the OT will continue to facilitate and develop, linking in with an All-Wales group. There is an expectation to accommodate student learning each year, and there is supervision, CPD and personal development opportunities widely available. As a team the OT staff have close relationship with OT staff across PTHB with shared learning opportunities.
