Job summary
Powys Teaching Health Board are looking to recruit a highly technical and capable individual to recruit and lead a small team of network engineers to support, maintain and continually improve the health boards networking infrastructure. The health board has around 20 sites with complex networking requirements and constraints, each requiring innovative solutions to deliver connectivity where it's needed for our staff and patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the network infrastructure can support the health boards digital transformation agenda and efforts to deliver digital services directly at the point of care. Identifying, prioritising, and justifying improvements will form a significant part of the role.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced network engineer to build a new team and deliver the networking infrastructure required by the health board in the future with a focus on doing things right the first time.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable extensive experience with cisco switching, routing, firewalling, and wireless infrastructure.
Essential Experience:
- Implementing and managing scalable & highly available wired and wireless networks.
- Implementing and managing low trust network topology / segmentation.
- Implementing and managing perimeter security on next generation firewalls.
- Implementing best practice network security and authentication on both wired and wireless networks.
- Proactive Monitoring and Troubleshooting of networking infrastructure.

Qualifications: The following qualifications would be extremely beneficial but are not essential.
