Job summary
The appointee will become a valuable member of the acute mental health team in South Powys working within the community team in Radnorshire.
The post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board's patients.
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:
- To ensure the provision of a first-class clinical service.
- To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever possible.
- To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies.
- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's service plans.
- To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Medical Division or the Health Board.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties of Post Holder
Community services:
- Assessment and treatment of new referrals and follow-up reviews, with appropriate care and treatment planning.
- Outpatient clinics and community visits at the request of the consultant and CMHT lead.
- Attend weekly MDT meetings as requested and appropriate.
- To participate in assessments under the Mental Health Act if, or when, Section 12 approved
- To review and meet with the relatives of patients as appropriate
- To attend case conferences and CTP meetings on patients under your care
- To conscientiously keep abreast of dictation, administration and the issue of relevant letters and summaries pertinent to the patient's care.
- To provide support and advice to other secondary care and primary care colleagues and third sector services.
- To provide liaison to general medical inpatient services as requested by the consultant.
Inpatient services:
- To attend weekly ward rounds and CTP reviews for inpatients under the respective CMHT.
- To provide medical cover to the inpatient team when the Consultant is on leave.
- To support the admission and discharge of patients to / from the inpatient unit.
Crisis and home treatment services:
- Outpatient reviews and home visits at request of the Consultant and CRHT team.
- To provide medical cover to the CRHT team when the Consultant is on leave.
