Job summary

The post holder will provide a specialist OT Service within a designated area for Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB), responsible for;

Managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidencebased/client centred principles to assess, plan implement and evaluateinterventions.

Provide leadership for junior staff both LHB and SCS employees throughsupervision and appraisal.

Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OccupationalTherapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility fordefined projects.

Contribute to the maintenance and development of Powys TeachingHealth Board Occupational Therapy Service.

Regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practiceplacements.

Deputise for Team Leader when necessary.

Work flexible across locality and participate in the 7-day rota to meet theservice needs

Provide cover in other areas/specialities as appropriate and withincompetencies.

Provide a flexible service in locations most appropriate to patient's needs,e.g. home, school, community hospital or leisure centre etc.

Allocate work to Support Staff, at all times monitoring their skills andcompetencies.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Specialist Occupational Therapist with a passion for working in rehabilitation and community services to work as part of ourCommunity Therapy Team based at Llandrindod Wells Hospital in Mid Powys.The main focus of our service is to provide rehabilitation to adults in their own homes, communities and inpatient facilities, working in an integrated way with colleagues from health, social care and third sector

You will have proven specialist clinical skills and be keen to take an active part in contributing to ongoing development of our service. You will need to have excellent communication, motivational and organisational skills, a flexible approach to work to ensure delivery of a high standard of care.

  • HCPC Registered
  • Evidence of significant post graduate training e.g. range of short courses, in-house training
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to client group
  • Detailed knowledge of the principals of clinical governance and its application

Desirable

  • Effective teaching and presentation skills
