Job summary
The Central Primary Care and Community Pharmacy and Medicines Management team has the opportunity to recruit a passionate and pro-active Pharmacy Technician to lead our community hospital services along with providing oversight and professional support to our managed practices. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and participating in service improvement. The post holder will be required to support the development and implementation of innovative ways of working. These will lead to improvements in patient care and experience and provide efficiencies for the organisation and staff. As we progress with the implementation of ePMA (electronic Prescribing and Medicine Administration) across our community hospital sites, this role presents an exciting opportunity for the post holder to lead and support the team through this period of change.

This role will be based in the Central Integrated Health Community (IHC), with a focus on providing direction and support for pharmacy services across the IHC. A key priority will be to support the delivery of pharmacy's vision for the future, and explore ways of implementing efficiencies, developing staff and systems, and ensuring that our vision and goals align with the key themes of "Pharmacy: Delivering a Healthier Wales".

Main duties of the job
The Pharmacy Technician is expected to exercise a degree of autonomy and control in the performance of allocated duties within limits set by the Chief Pharmacy Technician and in accordance with departmental and Health Board policies and procedures
Be responsible for the professional leadership, development and management of pharmacy technicians and support staff within Central IHC Community Services Team of the Pharmacy and Medicines Management directorate.
Responsible for stimulating, initiating, and co-ordinating the implementation of audit, practice research and development activity undertaken by pharmacy support staff.
Lead and assist specific projects and areas of work, developing strategies for service improvement that reflect professional and corporate/directorate objectives in conjunction with the Pharmacy Senior Managers.
Support the Deputy Head of Pharmacy, Primary Care and Community and Chief Pharmacy Technician in delivery of the Health Board and National agenda within the Health Board (HB).
